FELICIA AJANI WIDOWS SUPPORT INITIATIVE (FAWSI)
The FELICIA AJANI WIDOWS SUPPORT INITIATIVE (FAWSI) program is designed to provide business and live support services to widows who are now the breadwinners of their families. Through this intervention the Foundation continues to create conditions that enable our widows to live lives with a reasonable degree of stability, support and access to resources that are required to cater for their basic needs, empowering them to find satisfaction in life and raise their children. Our Women Empowerment Program is delivered through ten initiatives:
SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISE
The FAWSI Small and Medium Enterprise program is aimed to enhance self-initiatives and encourage our widows to establish small and medium enterprises as an effective income generating activity.
SKILLS ACQUISITION & VOCATIONAL SCHEME
Widows are most times the breadwinners of their family’s and therefore require assistance in alleviating the heavy financial burdens they carry
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
We believe that education is a right not a privilege. This Educational Program was created to ensure that the children of our widows have continuous access to high quality primary, secondary and tertiary education.
LIVE SUPPORT SCHEME
We understand that a little help at a crucial moment can change the lives of widows and their families. Therefore, we provide live support through counseling as well as monthly allowances for non-active widows and orphans.
LEGAL SUPPORT SERVICES
To help widows and their children assess their late husband’s/father’s assets and have claims to his gratuity, we provide free legal consultation our widows and their children.
SHELTER PROGRAM
Our Shelter Program is designed to provide refuge for widows and their children. Many widows in Nigeria and across Africa are forced out of their dwellings by their in-laws and rendered homeless.
MICROCREDIT SCHEME
In conjunction with financial institutions, the FAWSI Microcredit Scheme provides a digit interest loans to widows with a flexible repayment plan that spans over a period of 12 or 18 months, depending on the amount.
HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAM
We organize monthly medical checkup for our widows and annual medical outreach for widows and the general public. At the program, they learn about nutrition, fitness and lifestyle in order to live long enough to eat the fruit of their labour on their children.
WIDOWS FELLOWSHIP
Since the spiritual controls the physical, we meet once in a month to hear the word of God, words of encouragement, pray for themselves, their children, Tobby Emmanuel Foundation and all our donors/partners/sponsors.
FEED A WIDOW PROJECT
Good food is necessary for strength and to enhance life productivity. Every month, we give all our members food stuffs and some money to support their feeding for the month. Food stuffs shared include rice, beans, garri, noodles, semovita, wheat, yam etc.
