According to research, Nigeria has about 15 million of the world’s 258 million widows. Widowhood comes with a lot of burdens and disadvantages.
Many widows around the world, and especially in Africa, battle with agony of loss, trauma, discrimination, maltreatment, and stigmatization from their peers, families, communities, and societies. They also have to sustain themselves financially. The burden is doubled with the children they need to take care of. The current economic situation has even amplified the hardship.
